Synthcurious call on the Council, Culture Coventry, local businesses, and all local promoters and bands to back Alan Denyer in his bid to save the Sports Centre, and turn it into a centre for the arts.
Not only is this an iconic building that would be treasured in any other city in the world, but this would be a perfect focal point for our upcoming City of Culture 2021 year. And what better legacy than to have a facility like this in the very heart of the city.
If the events held over the last few months at CET are anything to go by, this would be a real asset for the city going forward.
A huge thank you to Ian, Ayse, Dan, Mike and David for a fantastic show last night. Great to hear such a wide range of electronic music, a fitting tribute to Delia and her legacy.
Thanks to everyone who came along for a really good turn out. And thanks to all the volunteers and staff who make these events possible, particularly the personnel at the church who were great hosts.
Born out of the ashes of Unit Delta Plus, White Noise formed when Delia Derbyshire and Brian Hodgson met and started to work with David Vorhaus. Sessions held late at night in the BBC Radiophonic Workshop in Maida Vale eventually gave birth to the seminal album, An Electric Storm.
A true electronic music pioneer and innovator, David has continued his unique musical journey with further White Noise releases over the years, and is now joined in White Noise by fellow sound artist Mike Painter.
White Noise will be playing some tracks from An Electric Storm, along with more contemporary pieces. The perfect way to celebrate Delia’s birthday.
A member of the post-punk band Savages, and bass/electronic duo Kite Base, The Tin Music and Arts and Synthcurious welcome Ayse Hassan to the Deliaphonic 2018 line up.
Performing as Esya, her new solo electronic project, we are delighted that she has chosen Deliaphonic for one of her first gigs. Not to be missed!
A big thank you to everyone that came along to yesterdays sound installation. It was another great turnout. Below are a few pics and clips from the day.
The event was a taster for Deliaphonic, which is next Saturday, the 5th May. Headline this year is White Noise, the band Delia was a part of in 1969. Not to be missed!
Congratulations to the City of Culture 2021 team from Synthcurious!
We have seen ourselves how much hard work has gone in to winning this, and it will be absolutely fantastic for the city.
Let’s make some noise for Coventry.
