ESYA//Annie-Claude Deschênes at Just Dropped In Records

We are delighted to announce Esya and Annie-Claude Deschenes will be playing at Just Dropped In records on Saturday 24th October 2026, in association with Sink or Swim Promotions.

Ayse Hassan is a British composer, musician, singer and bass player, best known as co-founder and co-writer of the post-punk band Savages, whose debut album Silence Yourself and follow-up Adore Life received widespread critical recognition and award nominations.

Alongside this work, she co-founded the experimental electronic duo Kite Base with Kendra Frost and has collaborated on the project 180db with Fay Milton.

Under the solo alias ESYA, she explores industrial-leaning, beat-driven electronic music shaped by themes of identity, transformation and psychological tension.

Multidisciplinarity is an integral part of the creative process of Annie-Claude Deschênes, who continues her perpetual personal quest of uniting music and performance art by bending the pre-established conventions of stage presence. A key figure on the Montreal independent music scene for almost twenty years, she made her mark as a singer, musician, songwriter, performer and visual artist with Duchess Says and PyPy, two bands that are renowned as much for their electrifying performances as for their artistic sensibility. Her exploratory approach to staging and sound design takes a new direction with the genesis of this solo project: the urgency that characterizes her work remains, but frustration and aggression give way to introspection and vulnerability. Annie-Claude Deschênes explores and reinvents herself under her own name, driven by a constant need to create outside her comfort zone.

Esya

Fresh from her performance at Deliaphonic last week, Aysa has officially launched her solo project.

esya 1

Eşya is a new solo project from Ayşe Hassan (Savages/Kite Base), an unsettling, beat driven, and wonky exploration of alternate personas.

Transgressing comfort zones by experimenting with the complex and contradictory ideas that can exist within one person. An industrial pop existential exploration.
Her self-released debut EP Absurdity of Being, is the first in a series of releases exploring the myriad manifestations of selfhood through a whirlwind of FM and analog synths, drum machines and for the first  time on record, her vocals. Incorporating sounds and visuals she has  recorded whilst touring with Savages in various countries over the last 6 years.
This project sees collaborations with people in other disciplines who share the same artistic mindset, people driven by the desire to create; Chiara Ceccaioni (Photography), Chris Turner aka Favourite Colour: Black (Film Director), Dan Conway and Martina Luisetti (Make Up) et al. Absurdity of Being will be self-released by Hassan on 10″ vinyl and digital download on 10th May 2018. Eşya will be touring the UK and USA throughout the year.
Tour dates:
May 19th Amsterdam Private Event
May 21st Wonders of Nature showcase / NYC
May 25th Main Drag showcase / NYC
