Chapel of Many

Synthcurious have been commissioned to provide the music for a sound installation for the Chapel of Many event in the Cathedral Ruins.

Using multitracking, looping and layering techniques the sonic representation will constantly evolve over the duration of the event, never repeating the same passage twice. This is to represent the uniqueness of every individual, and their involvement and participation in the groups they form each and every day. Some intentional, some accidental, but always evolving.

The event will run from Wednesday 19th to Sunday 23rd June, with the installation playing at various times throughout the week. There’s also a special launch evening on Tuesday 18th from 6pm.

Admission is free, and is open to everyone.

The Chapel of Many was conceived and designed by Sebastian Hicks from Coventry University.

Save the elephant

Synthcurious call on the Council, Culture Coventry, local businesses, and all local promoters and bands to back Alan Denyer in his bid to save the Sports Centre, and turn it into a centre for the arts.

Not only is this an iconic building that would be treasured in any other city in the world, but this would be a perfect focal point for our upcoming City of Culture 2021 year. And what better legacy than to have a facility like this in the very heart of the city.

If the events held over the last few months at CET are anything to go by, this would be a real asset for the city going forward.

Esya

Fresh from her performance at Deliaphonic last week, Aysa has officially launched her solo project.

esya 1

Eşya is a new solo project from Ayşe Hassan (Savages/Kite Base), an unsettling, beat driven, and wonky exploration of alternate personas.

Transgressing comfort zones by experimenting with the complex and contradictory ideas that can exist within one person. An industrial pop existential exploration.
Her self-released debut EP Absurdity of Being, is the first in a series of releases exploring the myriad manifestations of selfhood through a whirlwind of FM and analog synths, drum machines and for the first  time on record, her vocals. Incorporating sounds and visuals she has  recorded whilst touring with Savages in various countries over the last 6 years.
This project sees collaborations with people in other disciplines who share the same artistic mindset, people driven by the desire to create; Chiara Ceccaioni (Photography), Chris Turner aka Favourite Colour: Black (Film Director), Dan Conway and Martina Luisetti (Make Up) et al. Absurdity of Being will be self-released by Hassan on 10″ vinyl and digital download on 10th May 2018. Eşya will be touring the UK and USA throughout the year.
Tour dates:
May 19th Amsterdam Private Event
May 21st Wonders of Nature showcase / NYC
May 25th Main Drag showcase / NYC
May 27th Zebulon / LA
June 19th Moth Club

Deliaphonic 2018

A huge thank you to Ian, Ayse, Dan, Mike and David for a fantastic show last night. Great to hear such a wide range of electronic music, a fitting tribute to Delia and her legacy.

Thanks to everyone who came along for a really good turn out. And thanks to all the volunteers and staff who make these events possible, particularly the personnel at the church who were great hosts.
